Without scrolling through all the pages would anyone object to Gary O'Neill being approached?

Did a decent job with Bournemouth and similarly with Wolves. The teams he has had do play decent football, well for the most part and he does know the club.

Will Still has left Reims by mutual consent.

I think I’ve got to the point where I would be happy with Lopetegui.

we've got a pretty decent record with assistants:

enzo maresca
edin terzic
paul nevin

Watched Dortmund the other night against PSG, very impressive side, thought their manager looked familiar then looked him up. Edin Terzic was assistant to Bilic when he was in charge. Bilic must have seen something in him and now he's a highly rated coach in his own right.

Tbh, Moyes is getting a taste of his own medicine with this.

He can be a bit of a "dictator" (in football terms) - his way or the highway - at the training ground. That is HIS job because results fall on him. It is why he has lost some staff. Now the tables have turned because he's most likely on his way out and Steidten is doing HIS job.

Egos. It's all about egos - on all sides.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
LJC - Sean's post smacked of the club's PR team getting to him. It was painfully contrived and full of verbal gymnastics. Which is always how it looks when comms teams get into it.

The story is most likely true.

But, ultimately, who cares at this stage? Clearly, Steidten has been asked to scout and advise on the replacement for Moyes. He's doing what he's been asked to do. Moyes, understandably, has taken issue with that because he's still in post and the season is still going on.

But that is Steidten's job. If you have a director of football, they have to plan for the medium and long-term - and that sometimes means doing things that, in the short-term, will cause some people discomfort.

|"Dressing" room? Changing room FFS. It ain't the fucking opera!

Remember we don't have to believe EVERYTHING we read in the press.

Seems odd to me too as the first team dressing room wouldn't really be his domain, all that much. Particularly at the end of a season where you'd think he'd be working towards getting players (and indeed managers).

Just seen the story.

Bit odd this as Steidten will have nothing to do with the dressing room on a normal basis. Have things gone this far out of control?

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I think you need to read the Moyes out thread mate.

Tim Steidten has not been banned from the dressing room or training ground at West Ham, despite a verbal disagreement with David Moyes, according to Sean Whetstone.

The well-connected Hammers source explained via his X account, however, that Steidten has voluntarily agreed to avoid player areas to allow Moyes to concentrate on seeing out the rest of the season.

Tim Steidten had been banned from any contact with the first team at the behest of David Moyes apparently.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
If I was running a business and the manager's contract was about to expire I would

1. Speak with him about a new contract and the nature of how I would want it structured based upon the history of the old one.

2. Look for alternatives who might be up to the job and suit the role. I would do this openly having explained that we are ambitious and want to get the very best.

We might end up with worse. I would recognise that as a potential outcome but I would expect the skills of my staff and advisers to be up to the job.

Considering he's such a connoisseur of the RB Leipzig model, I'm surprised Moyes is so against having a technical director do his job here.

In what world do you go around so brazenly 'chumming the waters' for a new hire with an incumbent in place and the decision about the incumbent's on-going position in the role NOT DECIDED?!

Maybe in a world where the incumbent is brazenly lying to all and sundry about contract offers.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
Dunno the ins and outs of the unusual (for us) relationships between the chairman, Moyes and the director of football.

Throw in other influential board members, plus Nobes in his role as "sporting director" (and I don't really know what that entails - but it's probably good that he's still around)...and you do have the recipe for a bit of a shitshow.

Add the fact that backroom staff have openly left the club and declared it was because of Moyes' negative playing style (Warburton, for example) and the whole thing is a bit of a shambles that needs tidying up.

New manager.
New backroom staff.
Clarify what Steidten and Noble do and don't do (they may already have done this but it's not clear to many fans).
And - who knows - maybe Sullivan finally moves on.

There's a lot of crap to sort out. And we've barely started on that soul-less athletics bowl!

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
This basically makes the relationship between Moyes and Steidten untenable.

In what world do you go around so brazenly 'chumming the waters' for a new hire with an incumbent in place and the decision about the incumbent's on-going position in the role NOT DECIDED?!

Way to embarrassing for all in charge. Imagine the conversations...."We might change managers. If that happens, what would you want, would you want to come to us, etc".

Hopeless and classless....the West Ham Way (or rather, the David Sullivan way).

As Ex says I wouldn't read too much into this with just three games left, let's face it they have never got on despite their cozy chats on the touchline.
